How do I set up an account?

  • Click on the person button in the top right of your screen.
  • Choose from 30 collection points across Hackney, Haringey and Bethnal Green. Check the opening times work for you before picking one.
  • Enter your details and choose a password.
  • Add your address (we’ll post you a welcome pack when you collect your first bags) and phone number (we’ll text you essential updates about your order).
  • Add your card details. (You may need to approve this in your banking app.)
  • Click on Choose fruit + veg bags. The first available delivery date will show in the order box.

You’re all set. Enjoy the veg!

We’ll send you a confirmation email within a few days of setting up your subscription.

How can I check or change my orders?

When you log in and click on the basket, you will see one box confirming your upcoming order (which can't be changed) and another showing your order for the following week (which still can).

To change the bags in your order, edit your basket to remove items you don't want. Then click on choose fruit + veg bags, select your bags and click ADD TO BASKET.

We will send you an email with next week's collection details on Thursday evenings. And we'll send an email and text confirming your order on the day your collection opens. We won't text you if you don't have an order.

You can also check previous orders through the dropdown menu in your account.

How do I book holiday?

We know life happens - new jobs, new babies, holidays - and you may need to take a break from weekly deliveries from time to time.

Simply click on holidays, then book holiday and choose the dates you don’t want a delivery. Don't empty your basket. Note: when you have correctly booked holiday, your basket will still appear to have something in it (confusing, we know...). Please do this by 1pm on Wednesday of the week before.

Can't see the full calendar? Zoom out on your browser (using the three dots at the top right of your screen) and that should make everthing visible.

How can I donate my holiday bags?

Our Food Credit Scheme enables you to donate the value of your order to food banks in Hackney and Haringey while you are away. The scheme has raised over £75,000 so far. To book donations, choose your holiday dates and toggle the button at the top of the page, then click Update preference. Note: this will apply to any holiday bookings you have until you toggle donations off and click Update preference again.

How do I leave the scheme?

If you want to take a longer break or leave the scheme, please email us to let us know. It's really helpful for us to know why the veg boxes aren't working out for you.

Why are your order deadlines so early?

We send next week's order to our farmers on Wednesday afternoon so they can plan how much to harvest for your veg bags. That's why we ask you to make changes by 1pm on Wednesday of the week before to keep us and our farmers happy and to prevent food waste. The final deadline in the system is Thursday evening of the week before.

When do you take payment?

We take card payments for the following week's orders each Thursday evening.

Can you recommend recipes for the produce in my bag?

Find hundreds of mouthwatering recipes for anything you might find in your bag on our main Growing Communities website.

How can I contact the GC team?

Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or anything doesn't seem right. Email or call us on 020 7502 7588.

If your bag is missing, call us straight away and we’ll do our best to get a replacement bag to you. Please don’t take a different bag, as this will cause problems for your fellow scheme members collecting later on.

If you have any other questions about GC'S wider work and everything we do to build a better food system, check out the even more comprehensive FAQs on our main website.
